Terms of Service
Last updated: April 19, 2026
Summary
NoxKey is free, open-source software published under the MIT license. You may use, copy, modify, and redistribute it under the terms of that license. These Terms govern your use of the NoxKey app, CLI, MCP server, browser extension, and the noxkey.ai website.
Acceptance
By downloading, installing, or using NoxKey, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not install or use the software.
License
NoxKey source code is licensed under the MIT License. A copy is available in the repository at github.com/No-Box-Dev/Noxkey/blob/main/LICENSE. The MIT License grants broad permission to use and modify the software, subject to the inclusion of the copyright notice and disclaimer.
No Warranty
NoxKey is provided "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. You use the software at your own risk.
While NoxKey is designed to protect credentials on your device, no software can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining backups of your credentials and for keeping your Mac, macOS, and login credentials secure.
Limitation of Liability
In no event shall the authors or copyright holders be liable for any claim, damages, or other liability — whether in an action of contract, tort, or otherwise — arising from, out of, or in connection with the software or the use or other dealings in the software. This includes, without limitation, any loss of data, loss of credentials, unauthorized access, or business interruption.
Your Responsibilities
- You are responsible for the credentials you store in NoxKey and for the consequences of disclosing them.
- You are responsible for keeping your Mac and macOS user account secure.
- You are responsible for complying with the terms of service of any third party whose credentials you store (e.g., API providers, cloud services).
- You will not use NoxKey to store or distribute content that is illegal where you live or where you access the software.
App Store Distribution
When NoxKey is obtained through the Mac App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies in addition to these Terms. In case of conflict between these Terms and Apple's EULA with respect to the App Store version, Apple's EULA governs to the extent of the conflict.
Third-Party Services
NoxKey integrates with third-party tools on your device — the macOS Keychain, Claude Code, Cursor, and web browsers via native messaging. Your use of those tools is governed by their own terms. NoxKey is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple, Anthropic, or any other third party.
Trademarks
Apple, macOS, Keychain, Secure Enclave, Touch ID, Apple Watch, and related marks are trademarks of Apple Inc., used here only to factually describe compatibility in accordance with Apple's Guidelines for Using Apple Trademarks and Copyrights. "NoxKey" and "No Box Dev" are marks of No Box Dev.
Optional Registration
You may optionally provide an email address on noxkey.ai to receive security-related alerts. Registration is voluntary, may be cancelled at any time, and is governed by the Privacy Policy. No warranty is made that any particular alert will be sent.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of NoxKey after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, excluding its conflict of laws rules. Mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live are not limited by this clause.
